Response to: Letter: First Report of Living Donor Liver Transplantation for Imatinib‐Resistant GIST Liver Metastases. A new therapeutic option in Transplant Oncology

We thank Dr. Pantaleo and colleagues for their interest in our report and important comments. It is of paramount relevance to clarify that liver transplantation (LT) is not considered among the standard treatments for GIST, and we do not advocate for changing the present recommendation. However, the case reported had unique characteristics that made our multidisciplinary hepatobiliary oncology team consider liver transplantation, which included not only the tumor biology, but also the severely symptomatic and bulky metastatic liver disease.
