The crop of Jatropha curcas and soybean under intercropping system can to represent an excellent alternative to acquiring income for family farmers. So, the objective of this study was to evaluate the agronomic performance of J. curcas and soybean under intercropping system. The experiment was conducted from December 2011 to April 2012 in the experimental field of the University of Goias, campus of Ipameri. The experiment was designed as randomized complete block design three treatments (single cultivation of J. curcas and soybean and, the intercropping), six replications in plot size of 16 m 2 . It was utilized plants of J. curcas with four years old and implanted with 4 x 2 m spacing. Soybean cv. 'Nidera 8015 RR' was cultivated between the rows of J. curcas with 12 plants m -1 , 0.50 m spacing rows and at 1.0 m aparting from the J. curcas plants. The soybean seems to be an excellent option for raising funds needed for maintenance and acquisition of household income, providing yield of 2633.7 and 1156.7 kg ha -1 in the single and intercropping systems, respectively. The incidence and severity of the soybean bacterial pustule were below in single system (46.66 and 3.93% respectively) when compared with intercropping system (80.77 and 23.61%, respectively), evidencing the shading effects.
