Shape Recognition of Different Wheat Varieties

Abstract Although image processing methods widespread in the recent years, they are barely used in food industry and agriculture. A novel approximation technique is presented in this study. Shape of wheat grains is estimated by mathematical functions in order to decide whether the resulted coefficients are capable of separating. Polynomial, rational and sinus functions were tested. Besides the goodness of estimations effectiveness was calculated on the strength of the observed correct recognition. Four wheat varieties were tested.
