2020
This research was an exploratory study from the perspective of lecturers on how to use computers, internet and multimedia (CIM) in Indonesian Polytechnic Electronic Engineering teaching and assignments. There were seventeen lecturers involved as respondents in this study. Three considerations were taken in choosing respondents, namely the teaching experience, the subject matter, and gender. The analysis used in this research was a descriptive analysis of the quantitative and qualitative data. The results showed that 100% of respondents used Whatsapp application (internet based chat) to communicate with students, 17.65% (three lecturers) always used CIM in teaching, i.e. active group and (again) another 17.65% (three lecturers) never used CIM in teaching, i.e. passive group. The active group consisted of one female lecturer, who had ten to twenty years of teaching experience and she taught theoretical course. Meanwhile, the other two were male lecturers and they taught practical subjects. One male lecturer had more than twenty years of teaching experience and the other lecturer had less than ten years of teaching experience. On the other hand, the passive group consisted of one male lecturer who had more than twenty years of teaching experience and he taught theory courses. The other two were female lecturers, one female lecturer taught theoretical course with more than twenty years of teaching experience and the other female lecturer taught practical course who had less than ten years of teaching experience.
