CREENCIAS Y ACTITUDES DE LOS PROFESIONALES DE LA ATENCIóN PRIMARIA DE LA SALUD FRENTE A LOS USUARIOS DE DROGAS LíCITAS E ILíCITAS

La presente investigacion exploratoria-descriptiva tuvo como objetivo indagar acerca de creencias de profesionales que trabajan en Centros de Atencion Primaria y Promocion de la Salud (CAPS) del Partido de San Isidro sobre usuarios que consumen alcohol en exceso y otras drogas. Se utilizo el instrumento “Drug and Drug Problems Perceptions Questionnaire” (DDPPQ) (Watson, 2006) escala Likert de 20 items para identificar opiniones y creencias de profesionales referidas al trabajo con usuarios de drogas legales e ilegales. La informacion obtenida en 5 items de los cuestionarios administrados a 50 profesionales fue relacionada con la recabada en entrevistas en profundidad semi-estructuradas realizadas a los mismos. Los resultados muestran que en su mayoria los profesionales conciben la problematica del consumo de alcohol y otras sustancias desde una perspectiva salubrista e integral y no demuestran menor respeto por ella que por otras problematicas de salud. La incomodidad en el trabajo con consumidores se relaciona con escasa formacion y capacitacion de los profesionales con respecto a la tematica y no con creencias sobre la misma. Sin embargo, los profesionales expresaron satisfaccion en el trabajo con usuarios de alcohol y otras drogas, a pesar de no poseer suficiente formacion ni contar con recursos de intervencion necesarios. Palabras clave Creencias Actitudes, Profesionales Atencion Primaria de Salud, Usuarios de Alcohol y otras drogas ABSTRACT BELIEFS AND ATTITUDES OF PRIMARY HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS REGARDING USERS OF LEGAL AND ILLEGAL DRUGS The main goal of this exploratory descriptive research is to look into the beliefs of professionals, who work in Primary Care Centers and in Promocion de la Salud (CAPS) [Health Promotion] in San Isidro, towards excessive alcohol and drug users. The “Drug and Drug Problems Perceptions Questionnaire” (DDPPQ) (Watson, 2006), which is a 20 item Likert type scale, was used to identify professional’s opinions and beliefs towards working with legal and illegal drug users. The information obtained in 5 items of the questionnaire, which was given to 50 professionals, was associated with the information obtained in a deep semi-structured interview also carried out on the same professionals. Main results show that most professionals conceive the alcohol and drug abuse issue from a public health perspective and they don’t consider it less important than other health problematics. It was discovered that the discomfort, when working with alcohol and drug users, was due to lack of education and training and not to the professional’s beliefs. Nevertheless, professionals show satisfaction when working with alcohol and drug users, despite not having enough training or the necessary intervention resources.
