An improved load-shedding model based on power flow tracing

An efficient and agile load-shedding model based on power flow tracing is proposed in this paper, which can effectively alleviate the high stress of power system in some emergency cases. First, calculate the distribution coefficient of bus to the overloaded branch by power flow tracing. Then, find out the loads and generators that have the most impact on the overloaded branch, i.e. those that linked to the buses with highest distribution coefficient. In this manner, the global optimization model of traditional load-shedding can be avoided, thus greatly reducing the computation burden and simplifying the adjustment measures. Finally, the proposed method is proved to be effective by applying to the IEEE24 power system.
