A method for analyzing the impact of interference on a wireless link with OFDM, AMC, HARQ, and a finite queue

2014
We introduce a modulated interfering signal in the guard band of a wireless packet based (infrastructure) network. Wireless networks, such as LTE, utilize orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) at the physical layer, hybrid auto-repeat-request (HARQ) at the data-link layer, and cross-layer optimization to increase performance. Both the target and interfering signals are subject to independent fading which is modelled by a Nakagami-m distribution. The performance of the target wireless system is measured at the finite queue in terms of throughput and average spectral efficiency (ASE).
