Braided reinforcements for composites

Abstract: This chapter describes braiding technologies used for the production of net-shaped or near-net-shaped composite preforms. The advantages and limitations of the braiding process are explained with examples of practical applications. Because mandrels play an important role in braiding, various mandrel technologies and materials are described together with their different applications.
