The investigation on the levels of small, dense low-density lipoprotein of healthy people in Nantong

2009
Objective To investigate the distribution characteristics of serum levels of small, dense low-density lipoprotein (cholesterol and lipoprotein) in healthy individuals in Nantong region. Methods 254 healthy individuals (117 female and 137 male) with normal results of physical examination and lab examination were divided into 5 groups according to age;20-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-69 years and ≥70 years groups. The automatic analyzer and micro fluidic chips were applied. Results The average levels of small, dense low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and lipoprotein were (0. 39 ± 0. 14 ) mmol/L and (241 ±158) mg/L, which have the correlations with levels of total cholesterol, triglyceride, high, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (r = 0. 54,0. 24, - 0. 32 and 0. 52, r = 0. 67,0. 35, - 0.42 and 0. 46, P < 0. 01). The levels of small, dense low-density lipoprotein and cholesterol were increased along with patent's age. A decreasing tendency was observed in the patients older than 70 Years. The levels of small, dense low-density lipoprotein were significantly higher in male than in females [ (0. 40 ±0. 11 ) mmol/L vs (0. 37 ±0. 17) mmol/L, P <0. 01; (253 ±59) mg/L vs. (237 ±95) mg/L, P <0. 05 ]. Conclusion The study on the levels of small, dense low-density lipoprotein with different testing methods in the different regions may have important clinical significance.
