The goal and objectives of the present article are found in disclosing the problem of the relation between free development of personality and guided learning, as well as covering the distinctive features of rational and regulated free and creative learning, The authors suggest combining the opposing rational and creative approaches in constructing the educational process thus ensuring optimal organization of learning activity through a clear sequence of mental acts and operations without casting aside students’ personal efforts and creative initiative, Since overcoming the contradictions between the educational objectives and the existing level of students’ knowledge and skills presents the driving force behind the educational process, the authors mostly associate improving school education with school students’ cognitive and overall personality development, The article indicates the distinctive characteristics and advantages of technologized education and the effectiveness of using cognitive exercises and guidelines for solving them in education, It also introduces the reproductive and search technological schemes of learning in which students’ work is significant not only in terms of accumulating knowledge but also in their development, Based on the analysis of scientific sources, the authors point out the unique opportunity to integrate various types of learning to work on greater accuracy and completeness of the results of students completing certain types of cognitive operations and mastering the corresponding types of cognitive acts as well as allowing students to show creative initiative, out-of-the-box thinking, find new ways of solving “traditional” problems, and the opportunity to simultaneously implement free and guided learning,
