MISSING THE PATRIARCHAL CULTURE: A STUDY OF LIBERAL FEMINISM IN THE NOVEL TARIAN BUMI BY OKA RUSMINI

As a cultural product, which voices women’s rights, the Tarian Bumi novel can inform readers about the forms of women’s struggle for the culture that binds them. The dominance of patriarchal culture in Oka Rusmini’s novel has subordinated women’s roles. Women’s figures in Earth Dance are a manifestation of women’s struggle regarding the conditions that actually occurred in the construction of a society (Bali). The study in this research is carried out using a liberal feminism approach. As a result, Earth Dance describes the form of women’s struggle in the form of (1) the struggle to break patriarchal culture and (2) the struggle for freedom. Meanwhile, the goal of women’s struggle in Earth Dance is struggle (1) to get equal rights, (2) to get public recognition, (3) to get freedom, and (4) to get a public role.
