Dynamics of the Landing Vehicle during the Entry in the High Atmosphere of Mars Using an Inflatable Braking Device

2020
The landing of a spacecraft is one of the most critical and difficult stages in a space mission. The success of the entire space mission depends on the success of the landing process. At present, many space missions are being designed to fly to other planets and bodies of the solar system. Landing a spacecraft for such vehicles is a very difficult and extraordinary task. It is necessary to lower the speed values from the very high ones that the spacecraft has when approaching the planet to acceptable speed values. The authors propose to use inflatable brake system for landing in such conditions and to slow down. In the paper, various stages of motion in the atmosphere of such a descent vehicle with an inflatable braking device are considered, and the main disturbing factors that influence the landing vehicle are considered.
