Injury surveillance data from outpatient and emergency departments in hospitals in Fangshan District of Beijing in 2016

[Objective]To analyze the occurrence of injury in Fangshan District of Beijing,provide the basis for making relevant policies and evaluating the effect of injury intervention. [Methods] Relevant information of injured cases in 4 sentinel hospitals of Fangshan District in Beijing was collected by using the National Injury Surveillance Report Card which was produced by the National Chronic Disease Center. [Results] A total of 39349 injured cases were reported in Fangshan District of Beijing in2016,with a male to female ratio of 1.64∶1. People aged 15-44 years old accounted for the largest proportion of the injury cases.Falling down was the main cause,and there was significant differences in causes of injury(except firearm injury,burn,asphyxiation/suspension,drowning) among different age groups(P<0.05). There was and there was significant differences in causes of injury(except firearm injury,asphyxiation/suspension,drowning,poisoning) between sex groups(P<0.05). The location was mainly in home(52.40%),and the injury intention was mainly unintentional(94.37%),and there was significant differences in injury intention between males and females(P<0.05). Sharp injuries,bites,open injury accounted for a larger proportion(36.81%). The most common injured position was on the upper limb(39.98%). The majority of cases were caused by minor injuries(81.20%),and the outcome of the injury was to leave the hospital after treatment mainly(91.28%). [Conclusion] Injury is a more common public health problem in Fangshan District of Beijing,bring a greater economic burden to the community,and practical preventive measures should be developed to reduce the occurrence of injuries.
