A new automated tool-joint inspection system to reduce drillstring failures

Presentation of ATIS (automated tool-joint inspection system), a new tool based on electromagnetic-flux-leakage, for reducing drillstring failures, such as fatigue cracks, stretched threads and mechanical damage. It reduces dependence on operators, improves inspection reliability, and lowers the probability of human error by reducing the tedious work involved in manual inspections.
