Copper Levels in Human Tissue

Normal copper levels in human tissue are listed. The variation of these levels in hair and skin in the population is shown to be of a similar order to that of the individual over a period of time. The copper levels found in tissues from a person poisoned with copper sulphate are compared with those from normal subjects, industrially exposed subjects and people with Wilson's disease. The most certain indication of over-exposure to copper is the finding of hair root copper concentrations which are significantly above those in the hair shaft.
