Régimen de flujo hidrotermal en la zona geotérmica de Araró, Michoacán, México
2003
A recent integration and interpretation of the exploration results obtained by the Federal Electricity Commission on the Araro, Mich., geothermal zone, especially those from one of the deep wells (well Z-3), allows to conclude that there is evidence of a geothermal reservoir at the subsurface of the zone. The geothermal reservoir has been deepening and presents a low relief flow regime in a stock work type fracture zone. It also presents middle to high temperatures (220 to 250oC), sodium chloride type fluids, and its extension is limited by a narrow conduit (throttle), probably related to the Araro-Zimirao fault, at depths below the current depth of the Z-3 well. The flow regime is probably a convection, liquid-dominant system, with salinity around 4,000 ppm, and fast outflow with little heat loss. Some self-sealing and hydro-fracturing processes seem to have occurred in the system.
