ALKALI SUPEROXIDES AS AIR-REGENERATING AGENTS

1962
Abstract : Some problems connected with the properties of KO2 and the reactions of this compound with CO2 and water vapor were studied. The interaction of KO2 with water vapor rather than water in the liquid state is of practical importance in air regeneration in view of the formation of the various hydrate forms of potassium peroxide. The interaction of CO2 with KO2 is of theoretical interest because of the possible formation of percarbonates (e.g., K2C2O6), a formation mechanism still not fully understood. (Author)
