A importância da qualificação profissional e o trabalho em equipe no biotério de experimentação

2012
This study’s objective is to demonstrate the need for the veterinarian in the research and monitoring of procedures and routines that are performed in animal experimentation facilities. This need is independent of the premises and includes the importance of professional qualifications for the technicians who work therein. A survey was conducted on the critical points of the Animal Experimentation Center; Oswaldo Cruz Institute (CEA / IOC). Certain risks were identified and then minimized, due to the presence of the veterinarian, through their professional guidance to the biotherium’s technicians and users (researchers, technologists, graduate students and technicians from other labs). Observations were also made after sending the CEA/IOC technicians to training courses offered by the institution, including the aforementioned guidelines. These included: A Specialization Course for Technicians, Biomedical Research Biosafety, Biosecurity in Biotheriums, Good Laboratory Practices and Fire Prevention. From this it can be determined that professionals should be trained in animal handling and research. Within the established guidelines. It can be concluded that due to the presence of the veterinarian, as well as the training offered, risks and concerns for the safety and welfare of both the professionals and animals were minimized. Changes in routine procedures when applied effectively allow the animals to respond satisfactorily to the experiments performed on them, in addition to providing safety to those who handle them.
