Physiologic Modeling for Simulators: Get Real

This chapter aims to help you buy and use clinical simulation products more intelligently. “Buy” and “use” are different concepts. You as a simulation operator can buy the best simulation products in the world, but if you or your students use them in an unstructured fashion, they can impede more than they help. The chapter also brings out questions that you have been dying to ask, such as “Why a physiologic model?” “Do all simulators need a model?” or “Is there anything to a physiologic model besides physiology?” (Hint: There is.) The chapter dwells at length to answer why a good model is so important for good simulation. A glossary is given in the chapter to refer to it when you feel you don't understand a term or when you want to learn more about a term.
