Analysis on Folding of Gear Top in Synchronizer Ring Precision Forging Based on FEM

The folding of gear top in synchronizer ring precision forging was simulated using 3D rigid-plastic finite element method.The forming process and mechanism of the folding were mainly studied.Then the process was optimized by using FEM.The new process,the method of upsetting and extruding,replaced the radial extrusion,which eliminated the folding by using 3D FEM,and the results were verified by producing.
