Considerations for Computerizing Nutritional Service Operations

The purpose of this paper is to overview the state-of-the-art computer applications in nutrition and dietetics, outline considerations for computerizing, present a series of questions to ask, outline steps involved in computerizing, discuss the potential impact that computerizing will have on personnel policies and procedures, and conclude with recommendations on how to avoid common pitfalls which may be encountered when computerizing nutritional service operations. In short, the purpose of this paper is to present a comprehensive strategy to facilitate computerizing nutritional service operations in health care facilities.
