Application of nebulized ketamine during anesthesia for the patients with airway hyperresponsiveness

2009
Objective To study the application of nebulized ketamine during anesthesia induction for the patients with airway hyperresponsiveness(AHR).Methods Forty-six patients,ASA class Ⅱ or Ⅲ,were allocated randomly to two groups with 23 cases each. The patients in group K were given nebulized ketamine(normal saline 20ml+ketamine 100mg) and those in group NK were not as the controls.Blood gas analysis was performed before mask ventilation and at 30min during mask ventilation.Anesthesia induction and intubation were followed. The airway pressure(Pawy) was recorded at the end of intubation,15min and 30min after intubation. Results Compared with group NK,Pawy was lower,PaCO2 decreased,PaO2 and SaO2 increased at 30min during mask ventilation in group K.Extubation time was longer in group NK than that in group K [(35.6±17.7)min vs.(23.6±10.1)min](P0.05).Conclusion Application of nebulized ketamine during anesthesia induction can ameliorate the respiratory complication in the patients with AHR.
