Impact of Distributed Generation on the Reliability Allocation of Distribution System: A mesh-Grid Approach

2020
The power system has a basic function to provide the electrical energy to the customers in a safe, economical and reliable way. The presence of distributed generation in power system network not only acts as emergency shelter but also improves the overall reliability of the system. It serves as a support to keep the system intact. This paper illustrates the consequence of distributed generation on the reliability allocation of the IEEE 33 and 69-bus distribution system. The main objective is calculating the reliability of the mesh-grid representation of the network and improving the reliability by allocating a targeted reliability value. The need for performance enhancement of power system components with a reduction in cost contribute to allocation. A comparative study of sensitivity analysis on the basis of component failure rate and network configuration is assessed for its reliability improvement and making the microgrid self-sustainable.
