THE STUDY OF METABOLIC PROCESSES IN THE THYROID GLANDS OF RATS EXPOSED TO TOTAL ROENTGEN IRRADIATION
1962
It was established by experiments on rats that irradiation in doses of 200, 400, and 600 r stimulates the metabolic processes in the thyroid gland; it elevates the absorption of I/sup 131/ by the gland and the inclusion of S/sup 35/- methionine in the nucleoprotein, the acidic residual proteins of the cell nucleus of the thyroid gland. It expresses clearly the relationship between the metabolic processes studied and the general state of the animals after total irradiation.
