Strengthening Technique for Suspension Bridge Based on Monitoring Data and Its Application

In order to determine the rational tensioning force for stay cables in a strengthening structure of combined cable-stayed and suspension system,a suspension bridge strengthening technique based on monitoring data was proposed in accordance with the existing theories.The strengthening of an actual suspension bridge was taken as the study background.The displacement of the main cables induced by temperature,the displacement of the main cables induced by loads and the displacement of the towers induced by loads were monitored,the predicting model of cable forces was set up based on the monitoring data to work out the rational tensioning force for the stay cables.After the completion of the suspension bridge strengthening,the cable forces of the stay cables were measured.The results of the measurement indicate that the strengthening technique for suspension bridges based on the monitoring data has high reliability,which can,to a certain extent,accurately reveal the actual force condition of an existing suspension bridge.
