Study of the quality of parts made from unplasticized polyvinyl chlorid
2020
Abstract The paper provides the results of the studies of compositions made from unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It shows the influence of the formulation of compositions and process parameters that determine the degree of gelation on the quality of PVC parts. It has been found that the high content of fillers (40% wt.) and the presence of recycled PVC have a negative impact on the mechanical and performance properties in long-term use. It has been revealed that PVC parts with a degree of gelation of approximately 98% feature the best possible extrusion parameters, which is confirmed by long-term use of these PVC parts. Therefore, DSC analysis can be used to control the quality of PVC-U parts and control such parameters as the presence of additives, degree of gelation.
