The invention discloses a muzzle smoke testing device and method. A laser transmitting and receiving system is arranged in front the muzzle in a vertical direction, a laser screen illuminator (1) and a laser receiver (2) are mounted on both sides of the front of the muzzle; an FPGA based visual signal collector (3) is connected with the laser receiver; a second set of laser transmitting and receiving device is arranged on the position having a distance d from the first set of laser transmitting and receiving device; a signal processing module (4) and a PC machine (5) are arranged 2 meters away behind the muzzle. At the same time of muzzle launch, the laser screen is used to collect the smoke concentration and shape change; the laser illuminators (1) and(6) emit laser, and the laser receivers (2) and (7) receive the laser light intensity value; the signal processing module (4) processes the time-varying signal acquired by the visual signal collector (3), uploads the signal to the PC (5), and calculates the smoke concentration change value according to the change of light intensity. The invention has the following advantages: synchronous measurement of muzzle smoke concentration and shape curve.
