Vignettes identify early onset sepsis management variation in a multi-center antibiotic stewardship collaborative

Background Vignette-based research methodology offers a unique method of simulating “real world” scenarios to understand decision making in behavioral, social, and health sciences. Clinical vignettes have been validated in adult outpatient studies to more accurately reflect physician management relative to chart review. Objective The objective of this study was to test the feasibility of vignette cases to identify specific areas of individual provider variation in early onset sepsis management within a multi-center antibiotic stewardship collaborative.
