A DSP Implementation of the Next Generation of Military Radios

The military requirements for future communications are discussed. A generic communications processor solution based largely on digital processing is proposed. The increased flexibility and functionality of the processor is detailed. An example of a possible configuration is described. The software and hardware architecture of the processor is explained. The likely core technologies to support the processor are examined. The current work being undertaken at the Defence Science and Technology Organisation is outlined.
