A Case of Metastatic Carcinoid Tumor of the Coccyx

Introduction: A report of a 67-year-old patient with a metastatic carcinoid tumor of the coccyx. Aim: To describe the clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment of a patient with carcinoid tumor of the coccyx with liver metastases, discuss about neuroendocrine tumors and review relevant medical literature in English. Materials and Methods: Clinical history, laboratory tests, magnetic resonance imaging studies and light microscope micrographs are reviewed. Results: A coccygeal mass was detected in a 67-year-old woman with fever and coccygeal pain. She was treated with a somatostatin analogue with regression of her symptoms. Conclusions: Coccygeal carcinoid tumors are extremely rare tumors. Somatostatin analogues offer an effective treatment option in cases where surgery is not indicated.
