A Machine Learning Approach for the Classification of the Buddha Statues of Borobudur (Indonesia)

The displacement of artwork from one part of the world to another is very common in highly connected world. In this paper, our study is limited to the images of Buddha. The statues of Buddha in different part of the world are having some distinct features, which can be used to classify them. We have made a sincere attempt to recognize and classify the Buddha statues of Borobudur, Indonesia, owing to its remarkable and significant features. A machine learning-based approach has been applied to do the same. A face recognition system is also being used, which extracts the features of a statue using machine learning libraries. A two-step approach has been performed to identify the face: face encoding using deep neural networks and classification using support vector machines.
