Enquadramento para uma política de reinstalação

2008
This update focuses on the Education For All - Fast Track Initiative Catalytic Fund Grant to Support Implementation of the Education Sector Plan (EFA/FTI) granted to the Republic of Sao Tome and Principe. The development objective of the proposed EFA/FTI Grant is to contribute to improving delivery of basic education services, with a focus on greater and more equitable access, better quality, and improved local governance. The Grant will allow for the scaling up of ongoing education interventions launched under the Social Sector Support Project (SSSP). It will particularly contribute to: (i) improve access and equity of primary education, particularly in rural areas; (ii) improve quality and efficiency of basic education; and (iii) capacity building for quality sectoral management The impacts of involuntary resettlement caused by development projects, if not mitigated, often give rise to major economic risks, social and environmental policies, resulting in the dismantling of productive systems, the prospect of impoverishment of people whose productive assets or income sources are lost. This means displaced persons for their production capacity may be less recoverable and there may be increased competition for available resources; the weakening of institutions and social networks; in the dispersal of family groups, and the reduction or loss of cultural identity, the traditional authority and the potential for mutual aid.
