The crystal and molecular structure of Re2CI6(PMePh2)2

The title compound was obtained in crystalline form and the structure determined. It crystallizes in space group P21/n with unit cell dimensions of a= 10.221(3), b= 11.747(4), c= 15.189(6) A, β= 100.11(3)°, V= 1796(1) A3 and Z=2. The molecule is rigorously centrosymmetric with the following principal dimensions: ReRe, 2.227(1) A,; ReP, 2.475(2) A; ReCl(trans to P), 2.337(3) A; ReCl (cis to P), 2.310(3) and 2.319(3) A.
