Reduced integration post-processing techniques for Darcy's velocity recovery in bilinear quadrilaterals

In this work we propose the use of a reduced integration technique for bilinear quadrilateral elements in the determination of the Darcy's velocity via global and local post-processing techniques. This approach increases accuracy in distorted meshes and leads to a reduction in the computational effort for matrix coefficients and residuals evaluations. Numerical examples are shown to validate our approach, accessing its efficiency and accuracy. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
