Ion Heating by IonAcoustic Turbulence

1976
An ion heating by waves with turbulent spectra has been observed with energy analyzer in a double plasma device. From measurements of the phase velocity and the damping rate of a test wave launched in the turbulent plasma it was confirmed that the heating occured for ions of high energy tail of the distribution. The turbulence was produced by the current noise of a diode.
