Sensitivity of direct tissue fluorescence visualization in screening for oral premalignant lesions in general practice

2009
Oral cancer is one of the most curable forms of cancer, provided it is diagnosed early. With appropriate early intervention, success rates are greater than 90%, as determined by five-year survival rates. Early detec-tion of premalignant oral mucosal abnormalities and SCC is desirable because early diagnosis and appro-priate treatment reduces patient morbidity and improves survival.
