Parameters Extraction Method for Solar Photovoltaic Module

The equivalent circuit model of photovoltaic cell can be derived from the experimental voltage-current curve including short-circuit current, open-circuit voltage, voltage and current of maximum power point. Normally Newton- Raphson method is used to resolve the parameters because of nonlinear transcendental equations. In order to simplify the process of parameters extraction for PV cells, a simple numerical method of parameters estimation for solar photovoltaic panel is proposed. The stage between the short- circuit current and photo-current is analyzed. A DC power supply is used as a load for PV module. The parallel resistance can be calculated by adjusting the voltage of the DC power supply. Then the other main parameters can be calculated with general voltage-current equations. The simulation results validate the performance of the proposed method compared with the V-I curve in datasheet of a PV product.
