Contributos da indexação social para tratamento temático de documentos fotográficos provenientes de arquivos públicos

EnglishThe polysemous and subjective nature of photography has made it difficult to implement common policies and procedures concerning its description and recovery. The emergence of web 2.0 provides new ways of publishing, sharing and organizing information online. Folksonomy thus emerges as an interactive and inclusive resource for representing these contents through the user's free language. It is theorized that the use of folksonomy could be applied and would be useful in the treatment of photographic images. The main goal is to analyze which contributions folksonomy brings to the indexation processes of photographic documents coming from public archives, in order to preserve and share this heritage. The adopted methodology consisted in a systematic exploration of folksonomy in archival context and applied to photographic documentation, to identify scientific works in online repositories and databases. An online collection of photographs was created on Flickr, belonging to the David Freitas Collection of the Photographic Archive of Evora City Hall, on which social indexing actions will be promoted. The practical study carried out will contribute to ascertain why systems that allow social indexing features are important to institutions holding photograph collections. portuguesO caracter polissemico e subjetivo da fotografia dificulta a implementacao de politicas e procedimentos comuns ao nivel da sua descricao e recuperacao. O surgimento da web 2.0 potencia novas formas de publicacao, partilha e organizacao da informacao online. A folksonomia surge como um recurso interativo e inclusivo para representar estes conteudos atraves da linguagem livre do utilizador. Tem-se como hipotese que a utilizacao da folksonomia poderia ser aplicada e teria utilidade no tratamento fotografias. O objetivo geral e analisar que contributos traz a folksonomia aos processos de indexacao de documentos fotograficos provenientes de arquivos publicos, com vista a preservacao e divulgacao do patrimonio. A metodologia adotada consistiu numa pesquisa exploratoria sistematica do tema da folksonimia em contexto arquivistico e aplicada a documentacao fotografica, para identificar trabalhos cientificos em repositorios e bases de dados online. Paralelamente, foi criada uma colecao de fotografias online no Flickr, pertencentes a Coleccao David Freitas do Arquivo Fotografico da Câmara Municipal de Evora, sobre as quais serao promovidas acoes de indexacao social. O estudo pratico levado a cabo contribuira para aferir a importância do uso de sistemas de divulgacao com possibilidade de indexacao social, por parte das instituicoes detentoras de colecoes de fotografia.
