Preparation and characterization of tetragonal ZrO2

1986
Abstract Tetragonal ZrO 2 is prepared by decomposing either the basic carbonate or basic nitrate. The oxide obtained from the direct decomposition of the basic carbonate shows a higher surface area and smaller crystallite size. This is related to the morphology of the products obtained. Transformation of the tetragonal to the monoclinic phase is studied as a function of temperature.
