Precise measurement of nuclear isomers in the storage ring at GSI

Abstract High precision direct mass measurements have shown strong potential to identify and determine new nuclear isomeric states, and therefore to add intriguing new nuclear physics information by going beyond γ -ray spectroscopy. The principle and characteristic experimental results of isomer investigations in the storage ring at GSI are discussed.
