Over varen naar aanleiding van een brief van de bra

De Bra and Wier on varen In part XIII of the Opuscula Selecta Neerlandicorum de Arte Medica (1935) a letter is reproduced about varen by Hendrik de Bra to Pieter van Foreest. This disease has been described by John Wier in his Artzney Buch. In this article it will be shown, that de Bra's letter is a plagiarism of the most important parts of the essay of Wier. Close reading of both texts offers an occasion to pay attention to the strange worm disease varen. In addition two cases of the illness, described by Wier, are restated.
