DIGITAL HISTORIC NEWSPAPERS ONLINE : PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES

Both recently published and older newspapers are being made into digital formats, and made available online. The paper will look recent activity, with particular regard to the work of the British Library, UK, in converting up to 3 million pages of its older newspapers into digital format. Libraries that have older newspaper collections need to share information about projects to convert newspapers from their printed format to digital formats, to make the conversion process as cost effective as possible.
