A dynamics of variation of main technical and economic indices of steel industry of Russia development for the 20-years period presented, accompanied by detailed analysis of key moments both in the whole industry and in some leading plants. The industry's status, despite the crisis situation in the country, speaks for its stable development. It was noted, that implementation of the most important developments in main metal-consuming industries correspondently require usage of metal products made of steel and alloys of higher quality and having special consumer properties.
