Hat die Ausprägung, Ausdehnung und Lokalisation der peritonealen Endometriose einen prädiktiven Wert für Schmerzsymptomatik und Sterilität

2002
Objective: The relationship between the revised-AFS-Score of endometriosis and its localization in the pelvis concerning the severity of pelvic pain and sterility is still unknown. The aim of this investigation was to represent the typical symptoms of endometriosis (dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia and pelvic pain), to show the improvement of endometriosis after medical and surgical treatment and to find a significant correlation between the severity of pelvic pain, sterility and the extent of the disease. Furthermore the relationship between the localization of endometriotic lesions in the pelvis and the severity of symptoms and sterility was investigated. The intention was to assess the predictive value of the revised-AFS-Score and the localization of endometriosis for pelvic pain and sterility. Material and Methods: A total of 117 patients who were treated for endometriosis in 1994 and 1995 were included into the investigation. A questionnaire was completed and the patients were divided into six groups. Within the groups the statistical analysis was realized. Results: The findings of the analysis show that there is no significant correlation between the extent of endometriosis and its localization in the pelvis concerning the severity of pelvic pain and sterility. Conclusion: The revised-AFS-Score and the localization of endometriotic lesions in the pelvis have no predictive value for pelvic pain and sterility.
