Positive electrode active material for organic electrolyte secondary battery, manufacture thereof, and organic electrolyte secondary battery

1995
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the discharging capacity and cycle characteristic of an organic electrolyte secondary battery by using lithium manganate whose composition and BET specific surface area are specified as a positive electrode active material. SOLUTION: In an organic electrolyte secondary battery, lithium manganate having a formula; Li x Mn 2 O 4 (1.02≤x≤1.13); and 0.5-2m 2 BET specific surface area is used as a positive electrode active material. The positive electrode active material, preferably, does not contain fine particles with 1μm or smaller particle size. Further, the content of carbon is preferably about 0.005-0.03wt.%. The positive electrode active material is produced by mixing a lithium compound having about 8μm or smaller median particle size and a manganese compound having 0.5-2.0m 2 BET specific surface area in 0.51-0.565 mole ratio (Li/Mn) of contained Li ion and Mn ion and firing the mixture at temperature T (°C) defined as -772x+1506≤T≤-769x+1720 wherein x satisfies the equation; x/2=Li/Mn.
