Dielectric properties and AC conductivity in La0.90Bi0.10MnO3 composite prepared by the solid-state reaction method

A polycrystalline manganite sample of La0.90Bi0.10MnO3 has been synthesized using the solid-state reaction method and its dielectric properties and ac conductivity has been investigated in detail. X-ray diffraction result shows that the sample possesses orthorhombic Pnma structure and from scanning electron microscope, the sample was compact with some voids. Both, the dielectric permittivity and dielectric loss of the sample are frequency and temperature dependent. Fitting analysis using universal capacitor response indicates that the electron motion is highly correlation between inter and intra-clusters. From the ac conductivity measured at 298 K to 453 K, the conduction process follows the correlated barrier hopping (CBH) model which allows for hopping of both single and pair of electrons from between Mn3+ and Mn4+. The magnetic characteristic of the sample yields coercivity, Hc of 36.109 G and retentivity, Mr of 2.7504 x 103 emu/g.
