Optimization of Surface Roughness and Material Removal Rate in Turning of AISI D2 Steel with Coated Carbide Inserts

2021
In metal cutting industry, the main challenges during turning processes is to obtain high amount of productivity & achieve good qualities of machined part nowadays. In the turning process, optimization is considered to be an important function for the continuous development of the final output qualities in methods or products. This includes the determination for input & output modeling, create relation between process functions & obtain optimal condition for cutting. Attempts have been made to find importance of the insert in turning process which is coated carbide, basically used for machining hard material AISI D2 steel. In this study, we use ANOVA analysis, and this analysis mainly examines influence of machining parameter that are (feed, depth of cut & cutting speed) on roughness parameters (Ra and Rz) & MRR. The experiment is performed on Taguchi L9 OA design. Experimental values are examined to find the range for the surface roughness parameters & MRR.
