375 EFFICACY AND SAFETY OF TWICE-DAILY DOSING OF CONTROLLED-RELEASE HYDROCODONE AND ACETAMINOPHEN TABLETS FOR MODERATE TO SEVERE OSTEOARTHRITIS PAIN: A PHASE 2, RANDOMIZED, DOUBLE-BLIND, PLACEBO-COONTROLLED STUDY

2007
Conclusions: Bending and lifting activities caused the most pain and resulted in reduced activity. Patients participated and experienced pain in activities that surgeons do not recommend. Some recommended activities such as walking and stair climbing caused pain. The pain pattern during activity over time appears to differ between TKR and THR patients. This is one of the first studies to quantify activity levels and show a relation between activities and pain in THR and TKR patients. Further research is needed to explore differences between THR and TKR patients and to establish the relations among activity, pain and need for revision surgery.
