About Two "Sui Dynasty" Buddhist Paintings in the Collection of the Taipei National Palace Museum

By analyzing two silk paintings collected in the Taipei National Palace Museum,said to date from the Sui Dynasty,and comparing them with the wall paintings of the Mogao Grottoes at Dunhuang,this paper suggests that the two silk paintings were copied from the Buddha on the south wall of Mogao Cave 301 and the Bodhisattva on the north wall of Mogao Cave 244.They were copied by Zhang Daqian.
