Spin-flip in the inelastic scattering of polarized protons☆

Abstract A new technique, i.e. direct observation of polarization transfer, has been applied to the study of spin-flip in the (p,p′) reaction at E p =32MeV. A DWBA analysis of the 11 B( 3 2 − → 1 2 − ) transition gives 3 to 4 times more spin-flip than is observed experimentally.
